Indications

The Intraoral Distractor is indicated in cases of congenital or acquired hypoplasia of the mandibular corpus, ascending ramus, or the entire mandible, including:

1. Malformations

• Hemifacial microsomia (Pruzansky-Omens classification)

• Syndromes associated with mandibular hypoplasia and microglossia, especially Hanhart syndrome (Hall classification)

2. Acquired Hypoplasia

• Growth disorders of the ascending ramus following injury to the TMJ

• Segmental loss of bone substance after resection of benign or malignant tumors

• Micrognathia of the mandible

Contraindications

• Children under 6 years

• Osteoporosis

• Metal allergies

• Following tumor irradiation

• Certain neuropsychiatric disorders
