Indications
The Intraoral Distractor is indicated in cases of congenital or acquired hypoplasia of the mandibular corpus, ascending ramus, or the entire mandible, including:
1. Malformations
Hemifacial microsomia (Pruzansky-Omens classification)
Syndromes associated with mandibular hypoplasia and microglossia, especially Hanhart syndrome (Hall classification)
2. Acquired Hypoplasia
Growth disorders of the ascending ramus following injury to the TMJ
Segmental loss of bone substance after resection of benign or malignant tumors
Micrognathia of the mandible
Contraindications
Children under 6 years
Osteoporosis
Metal allergies
Following tumor irradiation
Certain neuropsychiatric disorders
