Distraction Device
The bone transport device is a part of the Frankfurt Craniofacial Distraction System and consists of an external bow, stabilizers, and distractors. The U-shaped bow allows simultaneous movement of different bone segments while stabilizing each of them independently. Stabilizers, as well as distractors, are mounted on the same U-shaped gear rod and can be adjusted to the individual situation. Due to the unique structure of the device, it allows closing of symphyseal defects without reconfiguration. The system is constructed of aluminum and titanium and weights about 3 oz.
